Thirty years ago, Optiver started business as a single trader on the floor of the Amsterdam’s options exchange. Today we are at the forefront of trading and technology, employing over 1000 Optiverians from over 40 nationalities in Amsterdam, Chicago, Sydney and Shanghai. We stick to what we’re good at: making markets in a wide range of financial products on more than 50 exchanges around the world.

Through our core function as a market-maker we continuously improve the market by being the source of liquidity for market participants and give it stability even in times of extreme volatility. It’s a responsibility we don’t take lightly but that also makes what we do so exciting!

Ready to accelerate your growth?

As a Data Analyst you’ll be the driver for creating the future of Optiver. Through data driven insights you’ll help to improve scalability, stability and precision of Trading. Data Analysts sit on our fast-paced Trading floor working daily with Traders, Quantitative Researchers and Developers.

No two days are the same on the team. Your work will be dynamic and ever evolving, with a mixture of short-term projects where you will make an instant impact to trading, through longer-term, more strategic projects related to optimising our decision-making through new data sources.

What you’ll do:

As a Data Analyst you’ll get ownership of your own projects from the very start. This requires you to communicate with different stakeholders and you become an expert in what you do, including:

  • Work on different projects processing and transforming terabytes of raw market data, streaming data pipelines, doing analysis and making visualisations;
  • Build, own, maintain and further develop different interactive trading applications;
  • Write and test code for several projects you have ongoing at a time, which will give trading new insights so they can improve their strategy or automate particular tasks.
  • Continuously broaden your technical horizon and keep up to date with the latest and greatest technology;

This is what gets you excited:

About
Jane Street works differently. We are a quantitative trading firm active on more than 200 trading venues across 45 countries. As a liquidity provider and market maker, we help form the backbone of global markets. Our approach is rooted in technology and rigorous quantitative analysis, but our success is driven by our people.

Our bright, beautiful offices in the heart of New York, London, Hong Kong, and Amsterdam are open and buzzing with conversation. We come from many backgrounds and encourage travel between offices to share perspectives. Some of our best ideas come from bumping into a colleague at the office coffee bar.

Markets move fast. Staying competitive as we’ve grown has required constant invention—of new trading strategies, technology, and processes. We’ve found this is easier when you hire humble, kind people. They tend to help each other, and prioritize teamwork over titles.

We invest heavily in teaching and training. There’s a library and a classroom in every office, because deepening your understanding of something is considered real work. Guest lectures, classes, and conferences round out the intellectual exchanges that happen every day.

People grow into long careers at Jane Street because there are always new and interesting problems to solve, systems to build, and theories to test. More than twenty years after our founding, it still feels like we’re just getting started.

Work at Jane Street is exciting and challenging. We trade in incredibly competitive, fast-paced environments, and feedback on successes and failures is quick and tangible. This allows for constant evaluation and improvement of our strategies and performance.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
